Safety and Security

The University of Maine at Augusta is committed to providing a safe environment for our faculty, staff and students as well as visitors. UMA employs four Security Guards; two at the Augusta Campus and two at the Bangor Campus. Their responsibilities include patrolling the campus in two shifts between 7 AM and 11 PM, Monday through Friday, assisting with campus emergencies, handling security issues, providing an escort service, and securing campus buildings.

Accident-Incident Report Form

At Augusta, accidents and incidents may be reported to the Office of Administrative Services (621-3100 or 1-877-862-1234, extension 3100; TTY 621-3107 or 1-800-316-3600). These situations may also be reported to the Office of the Dean at University College of Bangor (262-7700).

You may download the accident-incident report form here (PDF file).

Emergency Phones

On-campus courtesy phones are located in Jewett Hall, the Katz Library, the Student Technology Center and the UMA section of the Augusta Civic Center on the Augusta campus and in Eastport Hall, Belfast Hall, and the College Center at the University College at Bangor. Emergency phones are also located in each parking lot, as well as next to pathways between some buildings.

Pressing the button on the pole activates a light at the top of the pole and will automatically place a call to the local Police Department 911 dispatcher. A pre-recorded message is delivered to the dispatcher containing information on the location of the caller. After the message has been delivered, you will have an opportunity to speak directly to the dispatcher.
