Videotapes*, CDs, DVDs, record albums, and audiocassettes may be used within the library viewing/listening areas. UMA faculty and staff members may check out videotapes (up to 5 at a time) for use outside the library; please contact audiovisual personnel in advance (621-3343).
Equipment
- All audiovisual equipment should be checked out through the A-V department, with 24-hours notice.
- When the A-V assistant is not available, requests may be made through a library staff member.
- Paperwork must be completed for each piece of equipment.
- The A-V assistant will set up the requested equipment and provide instruction in its use.
- Non-university patrons cannot borrow A-V equipment.
- Non-university groups who rent or use the rooms here on campus, must provide their own audiovisual equipment. All such groups will be referred to an audiovisual service provider.
- Notify the library if equipment malfunctions, giving location and a description of the problem.
- If equipment is lost or damaged during use, the borrower will pay for replacement/repair costs, plus a $10 processing fee.
Videotapes & Compact Disks
- Videotapes, DVDs, and CDs may be checked out for use outside the library by instructors and staff only. *A small number of videotapes do circulate and may be checked out for 1 week.
- Students wishing to use videotapes, DVDs, or CDs outside the library should make requests through their instructor.
- Instructors are responsible for picking up and returning videotapes, DVDs, and CDs for their classes.
Lending Period
- 2 week for on-campus, 2 weeks for off-campus.
Fines
- Videotapes, DVDs, and CDs accrue overdue fines. The replacement charge for a lost videotape is a minimum of $35.
Copyright
- Copyright permission must be obtained prior to using any copyrighted material in compressed video or ITV classes distributed by UNET.
- No copying of commercially produced materials will be allowed or facilitated.
Videotaping & Camcorders
- The audiovisual department will set up the video camera and accessories but does not videotape events. The borrower is responsible for the equipment.
