Welcome to the University of Maine at Augusta. UMA is Maine’s third largest institution of higher learning with campuses in Augusta and Bangor. Having worked at UMA for nearly four decades as a faculty member, administrator, and now President, I think I am qualified to tell you what a great place UMA is to study and learn, make new friends, and work with some extraordinary people.
Our university is an integral part of the University of Maine System and prides itself on its commitment to high quality instruction and student service provided by a responsive faculty, staff, and administration. We offer associate and baccalaureate degrees in a wide variety of subject areas as well as several occupationally oriented professional certificates. Many programs are available throughout Maine using traditional classroom instruction as well as interactive technologies.
As an academic community, we believe that intelligence, productivity and excellence reside in individuals without regard to their background, economic, or social status; all members of the University should strive for the highest possible standards of quality. We also believe that an educated person exhibits knowledge and wisdom, recognizes and respects the diversity of nature and society, and appreciates the traditions of art, culture, and ideas.
