Web Notification on Weather-Related Closures and Delays
Just a reminder that a simple way to find out if the Augusta and/or Bangor campuses is/are closed due to inclement weather or other emergencies is to check our web site (www.uma.edu). If we're closed or classes are delayed, an "Emergency Notice" in a red-bordered box will appear at the top of the home-page. If you don’t see the Emergency Notice box, the university is open and operating under its normal schedule.
Due to the varying weather conditions throughout the geographic area served by the University of Maine at Augusta and University College of Bangor, in the event of inclement weather, students should use their own judgment regarding the driving conditions in their area.
For early morning closings or delayed openings, every effort will be made to post an Emergency Notice by 6:00 AM, but if changes in forecast or conditions dictate, the University may make a closure or delay decision at any time. In the event a decision is made to cancel classes and close one or both of the UMA campus locations, an announcement will be posted on the UMA web site as soon as possible.
In addition to the web, UMA campus closures and delays will also be announced on TV and select radio stations. Campus closing or delayed opening announcements will also be available on the following incoming UMA/UCB phone lines:
- 1-866-862-1234
- 621-3000
- 262-7700
