Generating Career Ideas

Interpret the results of an interest inventory (the Strong Interest Inventory) to generate career options. Inventory must be received back at UMA at least 3 weeks prior to the workshop date. Inventory fee: UMA students free; Community members $20. Add $2 for home mailing.

Job Search 101

Come learn the ins and outs of the job search process; writing resumes and cover letters, web resources, networking, finding job leads, and negotiating salaries. Free of charge to UMA students and community members.

Putting Your Personality to Work

Interpret the results of a personality style indicator (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) to gather insights for satisfying career and life choices. Register and take the inventory at least 1 week prior to the workshop date. Inventory fee: UMA students free; Community members $20. Add $2 for home mailing.

Writing Resumes and Cover Letters

Is Graduation coming quicker than you anticipated? Do you find yourself applying for jobs or internships and needing a resume? Learn the best practices of developing a chronological, functional, or combination resume. Develop a professional cover letter to accompany your resume. Free for students and community members.

Prior Learning Assessment at UMA

This workshop provides students and community members with an overview of Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) at UMA. PLA is a way to demonstrate knowledge and expertise in a particular field in order to place into college courses, or earn college credit. Portfolio assessment and credit by examination will be covered. Free for students and community members.

Successful Interviewing

This workshop is designed to assist students and community members in their preparation for job interviews. Topics include types of interviews, common and difficult questions, appropriate behavior, and dressing for success. Free for students and community members.
