Welcome!
The UMA Financial Aid Office administers federal, state and university aid programs to assist eligible students finance their UMA education. We look forward to assisting you!
No student should fail to apply for college because she or he cannot afford a college education. The UMA Financial Aid Office administers many programs; therefore, a student and their family should not assume that a college education is beyond their reach due to financial concerns. When a family’s financial resources are determined to be insufficient to meet educational expenses, grants, loans, or employment can usually be made available. If funds are not available from the University, the UMA Financial Aid Office can refer students to other potential sources of aid.
The principle of financial aid programs is that the student and his/her family are expected to contribute, when able, to meet college costs; therefore, it is important to remember that financial aid is intended to supplement, not supplant, a student and his/her family’s resources. Since the federal government provides the majority of funds the University allocates to its students, family resources are assessed in accordance with formula as required by the U.S. Department of Education. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is used to collect income and asset information in order to establish eligibility for a variety of aid programs.
