Are You Ready to Apply?

It couldn’t be easier.

Whether you wish to attend full-time or part-time, applying to UMA is a simple three step process. Just follow the directions below and if you have any questions call us at 1-877-862-1234 or in Bangor at 262-7800, Option 3.

Step One: Complete our Short Application Form.

You can either download UMA’s short, two-page application, or complete a slightly longer University of Maine System application right on-line.

International students should download the Short-Form International Student Application, and students applying for readmission should download the Readmission Application.

UMA has a Rolling Admissions policy which means we accept applications at any time. However, we recommend applying by June 15th to begin in September, and by November 15th to begin in January. International students must apply by May 1st for admission in the fall, or by October 1st for admission in the spring.

Completed applications should be sent to:

  • UMA Office of Admissions, 46 University Drive, Augusta, Maine 04330, or to
  • University College of Bangor, 1 University Drive, Bangor, Maine 04401.

To download applications, you must have or get Adobe's free Acrobat Reader installed on your computer.

Step Two: Send to UMA a $40 application fee.

Checks should be sent to UMA Office of Admissions, 46 University Drive, Augusta, Maine 04330, or to University College of Bangor, 1 University Drive, Bangor, Maine 04401. If you apply on-line, you may also pay your application fee on line using a debit or credit card. The $40 fee is waived for students applying for readmission.

Step Three: Send to UMA your Official Transcripts or your GED Test Scores.

Have official transcripts sent directly from your high school (faxes and photocopies acceptable) and all previous college(s). Transcripts and GED Test Scores should be sent to UMA Office of Admissions, 46 University Drive, Augusta, Maine 04330 or to University College of Bangor, 1 University Drive, Bangor, Maine 04401.

And that’s it – unless you also would like to apply for Financial Aid.

Applying for Financial Aid can wait until you are accepted, but we recommend you get started now. There is a filing process involved and that can take three or four weeks. We recommend applying by March 1st for fall applicants, and October 1st for winter/spring applicants. Financial aid packages are available to both full-time and part-time students.
