Storm Water Protection in Maine
Think Blue

University College of Bangor is participating in the State of Maine’s Storm Water Program. The campus is part of the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) for Bangor and surrounding communities as designated by the Environmental Protection Agency. A map of the area is found below. An “MS4” is not just a system of underground pipes under the jurisdiction of a local municipality. It also includes roads with drainage systems, gutters, and ditches located on university campuses, hospitals, and military bases.
Stormwater from the campus eventually reaches Kenduskeag Stream and the Penobscot River. It is very important that no one leaves trash or dumps waste on campus streets, walkways and parking lots. The ditches and drains on campus are intended to carry stormwater only.
If you see trash dumped on the campus or other wastes entering storm drains in parking lots and drainage ditchers, please report it to the Facilities Office in Katahdin Hall or by calling 262-7730.
Things you can do to prevent stormwater runoff pollution:
--Never dump anything down storm drains
--Repair your car if you see that it is leaking
--Pick up after your pet
