UMA Lewiston-Auburn

Welcome UMA Lewiston-Auburn Students

While the University of Maine at Augusta's (UMA) enrollments have been growing statewide, we have seen a significant decline at the Lewiston-Auburn (L-A) campus over the past five years. With the availability of similar associate degrees offered by Central Maine Community College (CMCC), and with the University of Southern Maine (USM) having sole authority for baccalaureate degrees in L-A, UMA's declining numbers at the L-A campus are understandable. Regrettably, the economics for UMA to be a partner on the L-A campus no longer make sense. As a result of all these factors UMA has made the difficult decision to phase out its services to students at Lewiston-Auburn College.  This phase-out extends over many years and is intended to accommodate degree completion for as many qualifying UMA degree candidates as possible.

UMA is committed to working with each UMA L-A student to ensure a smooth transition. Depending on your degree status, you may be eligible for varying levels of support to finish your degree. Please click on our new Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for more details.

This list of Frequently Asked Questions about UMA's transition from Lewiston-Auburn is specifically written for those qualifying UMA L-A students who wish to complete their degrees in the immediate area. Students continue to have the option of taking UMA courses in Augusta, or at any University College Center where UMA courses are taught on-site and by ITV.

During the fall semester 2006, we made every effort to contact all of our UMA L-A students by phone and though mailings. If we haven't made contact with you and you have questions, please send an e-mail to Linda Pease, Advisor at UMA L-A or call her at 753-6600.

Linda, UMA's Assistant Dean for UMA L-A will be working half-time for the 2006/2007 Academic Year in her new office near the Café at LAC.  You can make an appointment with her or leave a message by contacting the ITV/UMA Reception Office at LAC 753-6600.
