Using Tell-Us for Registration 

Before you call:

Step 1
See your advisor to discuss course selections and plan your schedule. Obtain your RAN* if you are majoring in Architecture, Art, Graphic Arts, Medical Lab Science, Music, Nursing or Photography. (*RAN is a Registration Authorization Number).

Step 2
Be sure you have the correct CRNs (Five digit course registration numbers from the Course Guide). Be sure to check the course guide to determine if you have met the course pre-requisite. Please have several alternate sections ready in case your first choices are not available. 

Notice: Grade reports will no longer be mailed routinely. You can get your grades in minutes by phone!  Refer to Using Tell-Us for Grades.

When you call:

Step 1
Dial (207) 621-3481

Step 2
Listen to the menus all the way through (at least the first time!)

Step 3
Select "Registration".

Step 4
Select the semester for which you want to register.

Step 5
Enter your ID number (for most students this is your social security number).

Step 6
Enter your Personal Identification Number (PIN). This number provides for the secure protection of your personal UMA data. The first time you call Tell-Us, your PIN will be your date of birth (example: October 6, 1973 would be 100673). At your option, you may change your PIN to provide increased security. Please keep your PIN confidential so that no one else may access your personal information and remember the number because no one else will know it!

Step 7
Enter your RAN (Registration Authorization Number) if required.

Step 8
Proceed to add and drop courses to create your schedule.

After you call:

Step 1
Report any difficulties with the Tell-Us system to the Information Center at 207-621-3021

Step 2
Students can print their own class schedules using the computer application  Web DSIS. Web DSIS allows students easy access to their academic information. Your Web DSIS PIN will be the same as your Tell-Us pin.

Hints
Try calling late at night if you have trouble getting through. Tell-Us is available 24 hours a day. Sunday access may or may not be available depending on system maintenance.

You may call as often as you want.

Press * at any time to "escape," but remember to check to see if your last request was processed.

When trying to change a lab time use the simultaneous drop/add function.

Using Tell-Us for Grades

When you call:

Step 1
Dial (207) 621-3481

Step 2
Listen to the menu and select "Term Grade Reporting".

Step 3
Enter your nine digit "Student Identification Number".

Step 4
Enter your PIN.

Step 5
Press "1" for Semester Grades.
Press "2" for Cumulative Totals.

Step 6
Press the last two digits of the year (example - Fall 05 = 05; Spring 06 = 06)

Step 7
Press "1" for Fall semester, "2" for Spring, or "3" for Summer.

Step 8
Listen for grades and follow the instructions. If you are required to produce a printed grade report, Press "3".

Please allow at least 1 week after the semester ends before accessing grade information.

Using Tell-Us for Financial Aid Info

When you call:

Step 1
Dial (207) 621-3481

Step 2
Press "1" and listen to the "Options" and
Choose:

  • For your financial aid file status, your award information or general disbursement instructions.
  • For financial aid requirements and instructions on applying for financial aid.
  • For information on types of aid available.
  • To request a Financial Aid Application or to have a Financial Aid Transcript sent to another college or university.
  • To complete an Entrance Counseling Session.

Your FAFSA should be received by the Federal Student Aid Processor by 2/15/06 to meet UMA's new preferred deadline of 3/1/06.

Complete all sections and answer all items (enter "0" if the answer is "zero").

If you file your application with estimates, you will need to update & correct the figures to reflect accurate information.

Make a photocopy of the application form for your records.
